Calyptus-studio was born out of the collaboration between Maxime Seurin, architect DPLG and Benjamin Debaermaker, project manager, two different backgrounds brought together by a passion for craftsmanship, wood, design and sustainable construction.

The studio assists clients with the design, administrative procedures and implementation of their projects. Maxime and Benjamin work with private individuals and professionals on projects ranging from furniture designs to medium-sized ERP buildings.

Calyptus-studio adapts to the ambitions and constraints of the project owner and to the context and situation in which the architecture will be installed. It pays particular attention to the intentions and habits of each person so that the design harmonises with the function. Each project is unique and made to measure.

The team's diverse skills enable it to guide the client in his aesthetic, functional and technical choices from the sketch phase through to the construction phase. Maxime, who is particularly experienced in design, and Benjamin, in construction, combine their experience to optimise functional and environmental comfort for users.

The studio's approach to contemporary architecture is based on a clear understanding of the existing context. Its aim is to respect the environment by using local, ecological and sustainable materials.

The studio's projects include the renovation of barns, extensions, extensions to existing buildings and the construction of detached houses, doctors' surgeries, reception halls and offices.

Maxime Seurin trained at the Paris-Belleville School of Architecture (DPLG) and at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice. He has previously worked in France and China for renowned architects (Pierre-Louis Faloci in Paris, Architecture-Studio in Paris, Shanghai and Beijing, Escudié-Fermaut in Tourcoing). This architect won the 2014 Geste d'or project prize for his project to convert the Saint-Louis church into a third-living space and guest rooms. Maxime is also a craftsman, having created the Tectoluce brand dedicated to the design and manufacture of wooden lampshades.

Benjamin Debaermaker trained in carpentry and timber construction at the Lycée Jean Prouvé in Lomme (BTS SCBH) and at the IUT in Bourges in architectural project management. He is also QUALIPAILLE-trained in the design and construction of straw-insulated buildings. Benjamin previously worked in an architectural design office (Agence OPALARCHI) and in project management under cooperative status.
