Atelier KOTI - the Finnish word for house - was born out of Amélie Cailleux's particular interest in living spaces, putting the inhabitant at the heart of the architectural project.

This nod to Finland echoes the few months this architect lived there, discovering a relationship of contemplation and respect for nature, and a love for wood that has continued to grow ever since.

After graduating, Amélie worked in several architectural studios in the Lille metropolitan area, before joining the BLAU agency, directed by the architect Marie Blanckaert, for six good years, where she was able to perfect her skills in the field of housing, but also to become aware of bio-sourced materials, the rehabilitation of existing buildings and the circular economy. At the same time, she has developed a few projects in her own name for individuals wishing to renovate their homes.

The values of the studio are centred around respect for the place and the materials: highlighting the "already there" (the context, the building), working with views and light, appreciating textures, favouring bio-sourced and local materials when possible. Adapting to contemporary uses and needs is also at the heart of our practice, as well as taking into account ecological and energy issues.

Atelier KOTI assists clients with their projects, from the feasibility study to the complete mission including the follow-up of the works. Projects involving housing, but also work spaces and small establishments open to the public are part of her daily practice. Amélie Cailleux also has a major interest in small-scale projects, and in particular in the design of interior furniture, to adapt everyday uses (storing, cooking, working, sleeping, etc.) to the non-standard dimensions of existing buildings, and to affirm the personality of a place through the choice of materials and colours.
