Atelier is an architectural practice based in Paris and Lisbon that carries out projects in France and Portugal, resulting from public and private commissions, on both a small and large scale, in the fields of new construction, renovation of existing buildings or their extension, on programmes ranging from individual housing to collective facilities.
L'Atelier is a place for reflection, exchange, research and experimentation in architecture. Each project represents a new adventure and its approach is unique. These architects place at the heart of these reflections the wishes and desires of the client or project owner, his budget and the specific constraints of each project, while taking into account its social, economic and above all ecological context, as well as the precise regulations and techniques of the time.
Aware of their responsibility in the construction of living spaces and a built heritage, of their impact on people's lives, Ana Belo and her team strive to create an architecture that is both rational and poetic, concrete and intuitive, logical and sensitive, timeless and evolving, silent, perennial and rooted, that provides personalised, relevant and committed responses to the specific and generic challenges of each project.
"Commitment and pleasure, rigour and requirement, quality, simplicity and clarity are the watchwords in our practice".
Ana Belo graduated in 2008 from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Lisbon and has worked for 12 years with renowned agencies in various cities around the world: pritzker Balkrishna Doshi in Ahmedabad, architect José Neves in Lisbon, the award-winning 6a architects in London and Éric Lapierre in Paris.
The plurality of this journey has allowed him to question the practice of architecture and the role of the architect, to deepen his skills in different fields and to sharpen his convictions in order to build himself as an architect to found, in 2019, l'Atelier.
