ABOUT US
Collection Architectes is a multidisciplinary studio based in the French Alps. Founded in 2021 by five young architects with a complementary vision, the studio was born with the idea of placing creativity at the heart of architectural practice.
After working for more than 10 years on exceptional sites all over France and for some of the biggest French houses, its creators wanted to explore new territories in search of a singular vision, always more radical, always more sensitive.
The studio's creative approach has now become a methodology that enables this collective to embody a spirit of openness while covering a very wide spectrum of scales and programmes.
Collection is the combination of "collective" and "creation".
ALCHEMY BETWEEN ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPE
"Our approach to architecture is not to build for the sake of building, but to build better, to build less, to rehabilitate, to rebuild, to preserve, to be inspired by the context and local traditions, to be part of them, to favour biodiversity, well-being, to de-impact as much as possible.
The agency's ambition lies in the idea that each of their projects should be imperiously anchored in its context. To achieve this, the architects develop an architectural signature that gives pride of place to natural elements.
Their architecture does not impose itself. It reflects, reveals, underlines and accompanies the landscape. When nature is not initially present, Collection Architectes summons it by creating gardens, meadows and orchards.
The objective is to do better with less, by revealing the emblematic elements of a site or a building, by connecting them to each other to create a real symbiosis between history, architecture and landscape.
To achieve this alchemy, it is necessary to understand the places and their users, to be interested in them and to give them time. It is necessary to communicate and federate on a permanent basis. The working methods implemented by this collective serve this approach, from the sketches to the realization:
- The studio systematically works with a landscape designer (Atelier Lionel DOUARD)
- For each project, it organises an opening workshop whose aim is to open up the conceptual field of the project as much as possible. These architects draw their inspiration from nature in the broadest sense of the word.
- Before thinking about the building, Collection Architectes structures the site thanks to the landscape: the axes, the views, the flows, the vegetation, the landscape entities in the broad sense.
- The architecture finds its location and volume naturally. It is systematically derived from the landscape approach.
- An important part of the project's economy is reserved for the landscape lots.
- A palette of materials is created for each project. It is always associated with a plant palette.

- A range of materials is used in each project. It is always associated with a plant palette.
- The studio carries out an on-site installation before the companies are consulted in order to verify the overall composition on site.
- During the construction phase, these architects produce large-scale prototypes and samples in situ.
