BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Kunihiko TAKANO’s academic and professional journey took place between Kyoto, Japan, and Paris. Although very different, these two cities share rich urban identities inherited from the 19th century, where architectural heritage, modern buildings, and contemporary cultures coexist.

In Kyoto, Kunihiko TAKANO acquired in-depth knowledge of traditional Japanese wooden architecture and construction, integrating natural materials such as earth, paper, and stone. Through his studies and numerous visits to temples and machiya, he deepened his understanding of construction techniques, materiality, finishes, and meticulous attention to detail.

These experiences enabled him to design wooden houses, including the Passage Botanique House in Tokyo in 2018, and continue to inform his current approach to residential and restaurant projects. Japanese inspiration and a minimalist spirit guide his design philosophy, aiming to create simple, refined, and carefully crafted spaces.

In Paris, Kunihiko TAKANO learned to design interior architecture in close dialogue with the urban context and in compliance with existing regulations. While exterior architectural design is subject to numerous constraints, interior architecture offers greater creative freedom, allowing the development of sensitive and imaginative environments on a human scale.

The experiences gained in Kyoto and Paris now allow him to propose an interior architecture that is both sensitive and structured, where each space is designed with well-being, use, and emotion in mind.

UNIQUE AND CUSTOM-MADE PROJECTS

Thanks to a rigorous design methodology and solid experience in restaurant and residential fit-outs, the agency develops unique, fully bespoke projects. Each proposal integrates the client’s expectations, adapts to the specific characteristics of the site, and explores multiple variations of atmospheres, materials, and furniture, in coherence with the allocated budget.

DESIGN PHASE

Project development is based on in-depth multidisciplinary research and a design process carried out in close collaboration with the client. This approach ensures that the client’s vision, desires, and needs are faithfully translated into spaces that are unique, aesthetic, functional, and economically controlled.

Each project relies on architectural solutions—innovative, traditional, or contemporary—that are aligned with its context and intended uses.

The production of detailed drawings and 3D perspectives allows for accurate visualization of the project, both during the design phase and throughout construction.

CONSTRUCTION PHASE

With solid experience in site management and project supervision, KUNIHIKO TAKANO ARCHITECTURE ensures efficient coordination of all trades, guaranteeing smooth and coherent project execution. Schedule monitoring, site meeting reports, and the organization and handover of works are carried out rigorously, in compliance with deadlines, costs, and the expected level of quality.
