A Small, Dedicated Team

Today, SONA brings together a team of four: two architects, a technical draftsman and an administrative assistant. This deliberately compact structure fosters close relationships with clients, responsiveness and continuity throughout each project. The practice draws on more than twenty years of experience in architectural design, particularly in residential projects, and works on new-build developments as well as refurbishment and interior fit-out projects.

A Collaborative Approach to Architecture

SONA's approach is built on a core belief: the quality of a project stems from the ability of all stakeholders to work and think together. The practice therefore favours a collaborative design process that closely involves the client, the design team, technical partners and, where appropriate, future users. This approach brings different areas of expertise together, deepens the understanding of how spaces will be used and allows the design to evolve while keeping budgets, schedules and architectural objectives under control.

BIM at the Heart of the Process

SONA integrates Building Information Modelling (BIM) at every stage of a project, from initial concepts through to the final as-built documentation. Sharing the project within a common data environment, notably using Trimble Connect, provides an accurate, accessible representation for all stakeholders, streamlines coordination and supports better decision-making. The practice's BIM expertise has notably been recognised through France's Digital Transition Plan for the Construction Industry, in collaboration with CSTB, the French Scientific and Technical Centre for Building.

Meaningful Projects with Lasting Value

The practice's portfolio illustrates the diversity of its work, including housing and residential developments in Nantes, projects for private and institutional clients, healthcare centres, refurbishment schemes and the design of public facilities and venues, including the Zénith de Nantes concert hall.

Across these projects, SONA strives to deliver architecture that is understated, sustainable and responsive to its context, with particular attention to usability and the human dimension of each project. Its ambition remains constant: to turn technical, economic and regulatory constraints into opportunities for design, and to work alongside project partners to develop coherent, practical and long-lasting solutions.
