DO Architecte is an architecture practice based in Rennes, founded by Damien Owczarek after ten years of experience working with several architectural practices across Brittany.

The practice supports both private and professional clients with renovation, extension, vertical extension and new-build projects. It also works on multi-unit residential developments and buildings open to the public, including restaurants, retail premises, medical practices, offices and spaces designed for early childhood care.

Every project begins with a close examination of what already exists: the site, the buildings, the surrounding landscape and, importantly, the way spaces are used and experienced. The practice seeks to understand the distinctive qualities of each place so that they can inform the design and lead to a simple, thoughtful and appropriate architectural response.

Particular attention is paid to the durability of buildings, the choice of materials and construction methods, and the quality of detailing. Every solution must be consistent with the project’s requirements and carefully considered to ensure long-term durability.

In a world where environmental resources must be protected, the responsible use of materials and resources is a key consideration for the practice. The right material should be used in the right place, and every intervention should be carefully measured and justified.

Projects are developed collaboratively, through dialogue with clients and the various professionals involved, to find solutions that meet their needs while respecting the project’s budget and constraints.

When required, DO Architecte works alongside specialist consultants, including structural engineers, building physics and technical engineering consultants, quantity surveyors, landscape architects and acousticians.

Through this considered approach, the practice aims to create durable, welcoming and functional spaces that respond sensitively to their surroundings.
