Atelier d'Architecture Aurélie Barbey _ L'AAAB is available for new projects
The Atelier d’Architecture Aurélie Barbey (AAAB) develops an inclusive architecture, attentive to people, uses, and places. The studio supports both private individuals and private clients in residential or public-access building projects, whether new construction, restructuring, or heritage rehabilitation, in natural or urban contexts, historic or contemporary. AAAB is firmly rooted in the act of “making.”
To achieve this, it draws on the experience and expertise of its founder Aurélie BARBEY, DPLG architect, the agency’s team members, and the skills of a whole ecosystem of professionals she has successfully brought together.
CREATING BEAUTY THROUGH DURABILITY
AAAB develops an aesthetic of durability and sobriety, embracing the emerging vocabulary of contemporary environmental challenges while working to enhance both historic and contemporary architectural heritage.
Its architecture weaves a new aesthetic language, clear and precise, that of the right and economical gesture, grounded in attention to what already exists and in the robustness of lasting materials. To this end, AAAB relies on a thorough mastery of construction, sometimes within highly constrained contexts, down to the smallest details.
Its architecture creates beauty through durability, distancing itself from fleeting trends to anchor itself gracefully and humbly in the long term, while affirming its contemporaneity. This delicate balance between the contemporary and the timeless lies in the precision of its lines and the materiality of its projects, which alternate between references and contrasts.
BEING AT ONE WITH THE GREAT LANDSCAPE
AAAB’s architecture maintains an intimate relationship with the great landscape, the backdrop of our everyday natural or urban environments.
Its architecture reveals the places in which it is inserted with intelligence and humility. AAAB works with their topography and materiality to highlight their latent beauty and blend into them delicately. It enhances their history by respectfully becoming part of their long continuity. It intensifies their structural lines and plays with contrasts: rough and smooth, domestic and vast, historic and contemporary… Its restrained architectural language thus dialogues with the great landscape and with history.
Its architecture allows the soul of places to penetrate its core.
AAAB invites distance, materiality, and light into its projects by framing nature or certain artifacts, referencing mineral qualities, and composing carefully with the path of the sun. It has designed porous envelopes to develop this singular relationship between interior and exterior, establishing a new dialogue within the thickness of the in-between. Facades become thresholds through the deployment of comfortable interstices that invite contemplation and dissolve boundaries.
Its architecture thus becomes one with the places it inhabits it connects.
AAAB places the inhabitant or user not in front of the landscape, but at its very heart. Architecture recedes to give way to the sensory experience of place, to the practice of this lived landscape within a domestic space. Architecture then becomes landscape.
BUILDING SOCIETY THROUGH ARCHITECTURE
AAAB has strongly and convincingly advocated for a supportive and inclusive society. Architecture is its primary lever. It must be welcoming, inclusive, adaptable, and unifying.
Its architecture welcomes residents and users with care and benevolence.
AAAB designs through dialogue and collaboration. It cannot create without this intimate relationship to the commission, without listening to the desires, needs, and constraints of its clients and future users. It places itself at their service with empathy. It works toward the comfort of use in the spaces it designs. Beyond controlled functionality, its architecture develops a sensorial dimension, an aesthetic that appeals to all the senses.
Its architecture addresses all audiences; it seeks to be inclusive.
Through its work, AAAB advocates for a living environment where everyone, beyond their individual specificities, is empowered to participate and develop social opportunities. It responds to the diversity of its users’ needs, listens to that diversity in order to welcome it in its many nuances, and offers appropriate responses, whether programmatic or spatial. AAAB thus works toward equitable access to fundamental qualities of use.
Its architecture builds society, offering meeting places where living together feels natural and fulfilling.
Don’t hesitate, call on AAAB to bring your project to life!
