Guided by a constant concern for elegance, balanced proportions, and carefully considered details, Corentin DESMICHELLE has developed an architectural approach based on the close observation of places, their uses, and their environment. His work is part of a global reflection in which urban, landscape, and architectural dimensions are considered at every scale, from the wider territory down to the very nature of the materials used.

A graduate of the Versailles National School of Architecture, Corentin DESMICHELLE founded his studio in 2007. Since then, he has developed a vision of architecture inspired by the dynamics of living systems, in which each project seeks to establish a lasting balance between aesthetics, functionality, construction simplicity, and respect for resources.

His projects favor simple lines, volumes open to the outside, functional layouts, optimized construction systems, and the use of healthy, durable, and environmentally and economically coherent materials. Corentin DESMICHELLE gives a central place to bio-based and geo-based materials, as well as to passive design principles, which are key areas of his expertise.

Particularly sensitive to high-quality renovation and historic buildings, he also works on projects requiring traditional craftsmanship and conventional construction techniques. This attention to existing structures allows him to develop architectural responses that respect the history of a place while adapting it to contemporary uses.

Corentin DESMICHELLE’s approach is based on a logic of constructive synthesis, attentive to local resources, contextual interactions, and waste reduction. Each project tends toward a sober and coherent architecture, in which every element fulfills several functions in its simplest and most essential form. Within this approach, low-tech principles play a predominant role, while high-tech solutions are used only selectively, when necessary to ensure an optimal level of comfort.

The studio develops a wide range of projects, from individual houses to collective housing and public facilities. Whatever the scale of the program, the coherence of the approach remains the same: to design architecture that is sustainable, appropriate, restrained, and deeply rooted in its context.

The question of landscape also plays an important role in his thinking. Corentin DESMICHELLE notably integrates the concept of edible landscape into architectural design, within an ecosystem-based approach that considers the building as a living element interacting with its environment.

In the same spirit, Cradle to Cradle principles inform his way of designing both the structural work and the finishing work. The use of reclaimed materials and salvage material platforms is part of an approach aimed at moving toward zero waste. The objective is no longer to think of buildings as fixed structures, but as true material reserves, capable of evolving over time and fitting into sustainable cycles.
