SIMON SAVIGNY ARCHITECTE is available for new projects
Simon Savigny is a DPLG-qualified architect who graduated from the Grenoble School of Architecture. He has been working independently in the Touraine region since 2014.
A career shaped by architectural practices, construction sites and teaching
Simon began his career at a worker-owned cooperative (SCOP) founded by fellow architecture students. This experience brought him closer to materials and construction, as the team combined design and build services for eco-friendly projects. He then gained further experience at an engineering consultancy in Grenoble and several architectural practices in the Touraine region.
He subsequently taught civil engineering for five years while continuing to work as an architect. This experience taught him how to explain technical considerations clearly and make every design decision understandable to his clients and project partners. Preparing his teaching materials also allowed him to deepen his own knowledge of the subjects he covered.
His practice is also grounded in a practical understanding of materials and construction, developed through hands-on collaborative building projects, the renovation of his own home and close working relationships with trusted tradespeople. For Simon, good design begins with understanding how things are actually built.
A diverse portfolio of projects
His approach focuses on creating a dialogue between architectural heritage and contemporary design. This has been reflected in the renovation and extension of traditional farm buildings, the conversion of a chapel into a multimedia space, the development of a village-centre complex combining homes and retail premises, and the construction of a timber-framed reception venue near a château.
He also works on new-build projects, residential extensions, commercial buildings, educational facilities, and workshops and offices for businesses.
A comprehensive and sustainable approach
Every project is considered as a whole, taking into account site constraints, locally sourced materials, sustainable construction methods, intended uses and architectural quality. Eco-construction is at the heart of Simon’s approach, incorporating high-performance insulation, bio-based materials, timber-frame construction, traditional masonry and renewable energy solutions.
Careful, structured project support
Simon is committed to supporting his clients at every stage, from the initial design through to the final handover. A successful project must also stay on track: this means establishing a clear budget from the earliest design sketches, setting realistic timelines for both design and construction, and maintaining regular oversight to anticipate challenges rather than simply react to them. He approaches this demanding process with rigour, transparency and a clear methodology.
Whether you own an older property, are planning a new-build project or are a business looking for new premises, Simon would be delighted to discuss your plans and explore the best way to bring them to life.
