COMPAGNIE LIBRE D'ARCHITECTURES COMMUNES is available for new projects
CLAC – Compagnie Libre d’Architectures Communes is a young architectural firm based in Montpellier.
It was founded by Mathilde Floureux and Maryline Collet, both architects, whose complementary backgrounds have given rise to a studio with strong and diverse expertise.
Both architects have worked on projects of various scales and gained significant experience, primarily within the framework of public contracts (MOP law). Today, they aim to apply this same rigorous methodology to private commissions.
This structured approach, organized around the different phases of a project, ensures that each stage is clearly framed and paced with precision.
The combination of Mathilde’s six years of experience in construction management and timber structures with Maryline’s background in large-scale public projects enables the agency to master the entire construction process — from design to on-site completion.
Today, CLAC designs and supports private clients in their housing projects, both new builds and renovations. Each project is unique, the result of careful, tailor-made collaboration with the client.
The agency does not wish to limit itself to a specific scale or type of commission but rather seeks to make architecture accessible to everyone. The diversity of its experience ensures a broad skill set and expertise across multiple fields.
CLAC places strong emphasis on collaboration and the idea of “building together” in every project.
The agency believes that architecture should be a collective process in which every participant — client, craftsman, or technical consultant — plays an active role in creating the space. This collaborative approach fosters the exchange of ideas, expertise, and know-how, enriching each project through shared experience.
CLAC strives to bring warmth and conviviality back to the construction process. Mathilde and Maryline place people and transparency at the heart of every project, putting the building site itself back at the center of attention — valuing the construction process and respecting every contributor, from the first sketch to final delivery.
At the same time, their work is guided by a commitment to frugal and sustainable architecture, responding to today’s ecological challenges. They are convinced that it is essential to rethink how we design and build in the face of growing environmental issues. By combining these principles, the architects develop solutions that are environmentally responsible and deeply human.
