Line Calder has been practising as an architect since obtaining her DPLG architecture degree, awarded by the French government in 1997, following studies that included a period at the University of Chicago.
She specialises in projects involving existing buildings, including alterations, interior reconfigurations, extensions, changes of use, restoration, rehabilitation, subdivision and more.
Her practice is based 70 km west of Paris, in the small village of Boutigny (28410), in Eure-et-Loir, near Houdan (78550) in the Yvelines. Her area of practice extends northwards to the banks of the Seine around Mantes (78200), eastwards to the outskirts of the Rambouillet forest (78120), southwards towards Chartres (28000), with its cathedral on the horizon, and westwards as far as the valleys around Mortagne-au-Perche (61400).
It is worth noting that in 2017, after 20 years of professional practice in France, she returned to Australia, her home country, to broaden her experience. She eventually resumed her architectural practice in 2025, bringing with her a renewed sense of enthusiasm and fresh perspective.
